They passed through several villages and learned of no supernatural troubles, until passing through an inn situated on the open road - a place for weary travelers. The inside of the inn was welcoming, a small bar and tables were set near the fireplace, where currently a big pot of stew was cooking. A small old man wearing thick spectacles came out front to greet them. “Stay the night?” He asked.

“No thank you,” Lee said. “Could we trouble you for two bowls of soup though?”

“Two?” The old man asked, curiously regarding Lee standing by himself.

Having put on his boots, Dan entered. The man smiled, nodded, and went to the large pot hanging over the fireplace. The hunters made their way to a table and sat down, just as the proprietor laid two bowls of beef stew in front of them. The old man had also brought them some bread to eat with the soup. “Excuse me sir,” Lee said. “Could you tell us if there is anything strange going on in these parts?”

The man was suddenly nervous. He took the glasses from his nose and began cleaning them with a rag from his pocket his hands trembling. “We’ve got a bogle under the bridge up the road,” he stated. “It leaves most folks alone as long as they throw it food.”

“Same road that heads north of here?” Dan said.

“Yes,” the proprieter replied. “Several miles up, the road forks. The right is quicker, but fewer people take it because of the bogle. If you do not feed it, it’ll ask you word puzzles.”

“Thank you,” Lee said.
